This article is spot on. webOS offers many great and unique features including their cards metaphor for multitasking, synergy integration with your contact list (with third party developers able to tap into this in webOS 2.0), an extremely great notification system that makes the iPhone’s modal alerts look like child’s play, and a unified messaging application that combines texts and IMs into a single point of contact and allows switching on the fly.
What HP/Palm lacks is still good, quality hardware. I wrote about this over a year ago and nothing has changed. They really need to put out new hardware that is on the same level as the iPhone and Android specs we are seeing today.
HP makes some great hardware and I think they have the capability to become a real contender in the smartphone space — if they can catch the hardware up with the OS.
